Felix KOUKOUIKILA-KOUSSOUNDA, PhD, holds a doctorate degree on Biology (Molecular Biology and Parasitology) obtained at the Institute of Tropical Medicine of Tübingen University (Tübingen, Germany). He is the head of molecular biology laboratory at the Fondation Congolaise pour la Recherche Médicale, FCRM in short, (Congolese Foundation for Medical research) in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo. He is also a lecturer (Assistant Professor) of immunology and molecular biology at the Faculty of Sciences and Techniques in University Marien Ngouabi of Brazzaville. At FCRM, he is charge of supervising all research activities in close collaboration with Professor Francine NTOUMI (Director of FCRM) and his own research activities are focused on human genetics in relation with malaria susceptibility/resistance, Plasmodium falciparum genetic diversity and molecular epidemiology of anti-malarial drug resistance. Since 2012, he has provided relevant epidemiological data on malaria in Republic of Congo. With FCRM, he is involved in CANTAM (Central Africa Network on Tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS and Malaria for the conduct of clinical trials) which is the first EDCTP-funded regional Network of Excellence to prepare the region to conduct high-quality clinical trials. The network includes research institutions from Cameroon, Congo, Gabon and Democratic republic of Congo with direct research partners from England, Switzerland and Germany. From 2015 to 2016, he has been trained by ASLM (African Society for Laboratory Medicine) as mentor for implantation of a good quality management system at FCRM.
