Prof. Joseph KAMGNO

Joseph KAMGNO is a Medical Doctor with a Diploma of Epidemiology from Pasteur Institute in Paris, a Master of Public Health and a PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Paris VI. He is currently Full Professor at the Department of Public Health and Deputy Dean in charge of Research and Cooperation at the Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences/University of Yaounde I. He is also Director of the Center for Research on Filariasis and other Tropical Diseases, He is since 2003 in charge of the post Mectizan and Albendazole SAEs surveillance in Cameroon and has trained team in all the Loa endemic countries for this surveillance. He is member of the Cameroon Academic of Sciences He was part time Lecturer at the Louvain Catholic University in Belgium. He won in 2015 the Islamic Development Bank for Sciences and Technology in recognition of his contribution at the socioeconomic development of his country Cameroon. His main domains of research are onchocerciasis, loaisis, lymphatic filariasis (mapping, clinical trials, and post treatment evaluation), epilepsy and the other Neglected Tropical Diseases. He did complete mapping of Lymphatic filariasis in Cameroon and has conducted all the pre-TAS and TAS surveys in Cameroon. He is author and co-author of 100 publications in scientific journals. He has conducted more than 10 phase II clinical trials and has developed a phase I and II clinical trial Centre in Yaounde.
